Testosterone

Product: Testosterone
Testosterone (testosteronum): (androsten-4-ol-17b-one-3)

The technology exploited now includes biotechnological 4-androstenedione (AD) production from sitosterol followed by 4 step chemical synthesis of testosterone from AD. The direct biotechnological production of testosterone from sitosterol in a single biotechnological operation is a prosperous alternative for the existing technologies. It is ecologically friendly, economically attractive, based on the use of available materials, allows to economize labour- and energy consumes.

Usage: testosterone is endogenous male sex hormone. In medicinal practice it is applied in an esterified form. Testosterone influences nitrogenous and phosphorous metabolism, expresses anabolic and androgen effect. Testosterone deficiency in the organism results in the derangement of protein anabolism, muscular dystrophy, hyperlipopexia. Testosterone is used in a therapy of different pathological states following by profound protein decay (chronic infectious diseases, emaciation, surgical operations, serious injuries, etc), and under derangement of nitrogenous and phosphorous metabolism. Testosterone medications are prescribed at sexual functional disorders, vascular disorders, for therapy of tumors including cancer tumors.

Strain: Non-pathogenic bacterial strain.

Substrate: b-Sitosterol (phytosterol).

Biotechnology parameters:

  1. Substrate concentration (g/l): 5
  2. Duration of microbial transformation stage: 135-145 hrs
  3. Testosterone content in cultivation broth: 48-50%
  4. Yield of crystalline final product - 30-35%

Biotechnology advantages:

  1. ecologically friendly
  2. single step biotechnological operation of testosterone obtaining from sitosterol (without intermediate isolation of 3,17-diketosteroids)
  3. availability of materials
  4. economically attractive
  5. low labour- and energy consumes
